I love it because it's a movie about mentorship, about music, and while it contains a love story it's a complicated one, not at all clichéd. It's the story of Marin Marais, the great composer/performer for the viola da gamba (bass viol) in the 17th century. if you're at all into early music, as I am, the soundtrack album is a treasure.
