I have a couple interesting articles on the history of language, specifically the word "dog."

Feedback and criticism always welcome.

Cheers,

ChristopherBorderWarshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09410343987050560739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11838465.post-77354881539219744782007-08-10T09:35:00.000-06:002007-08-10T09:35:00.000-06:00Christopher, get your own blog. I'm not actually on the border, and the "Border" in Border Wars isn't regarding the US-Mexico situation, but the infighting within the Border Collie community.

I have yet to inaugurate my own blog, and have instead turned Patrick's comment section into my own journalistic outlet. I'm sure he'll be thrilled when I finally break the cellophane wrapper on my own blog and leave his comments alone.

:c)BorderWarshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09410343987050560739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11838465.post-66257859638501130932007-08-09T21:51:00.000-06:002007-08-09T21:51:00.000-06:00Robin, I DO remember you. Course and unfulfilling. Perhaps they're just over my head or not in my genre, but the rest of the essay was like the interior of the watermelon. Seeds of wisdom in a delectable structure.

I assume that you can make the case that the rind is necessary, but no one giving a taste test need eat the rind.

I like your insight (I liked it in that other piece despite your questionable POV or choice of association) and wonder what you'd say about the pop pet books like _Marley and Me_ or the dog works of Jon Katz. Katz is a favorite target of the BC elite, an I tend to agree with them. He has a talent putting words together, but his take on dogs (like the idiocy in Marley and Me) and the sales of his books speak more to a culture of idiocy surrounding dogs instead of brilliant writing.

If you've seen Marley and Me's author ruining another dog on Caesar Millan's show or when you find out how poorly Katz's venture in Border Collies REALLY turned out, you really have to step back and laugh. It's clear, that despite their success telling other people about dogs, neither man has asked or tried to answer any one of the several questions you asked in the later part of this essay.BorderWarshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09410343987050560739noreply@blogger.com
