Valier is in enthusiastic arts and crafts territory and at Christmas everyone does their best to come up with something good to sell at the festival walk.
This piece of fiber art is by my sister, Spiderwoman.
The newspaper has been printing teeny tiny photos of landscape and other picturesque subjects and I've been saving them. So now I'm going to paint teeny tiny versions at my table top atelier. Around here one only needs two colors of paint: yellow ochre and Payne's gray. But this time I'm going to try something different: gilt paint on the wheat fields. Below is just the beginning. I'm waiting for the first layer to dry so I can go back to add detail.
I'll post a progress report now and then.
