MCCRACKEN: BUTTINSKY

When McCracken invited himself to our private Bundle Transfer which we had meant for just Blackfeet, he brought along a driver and a "coffee boy" of sorts.  This tainted any claim to being authentic.  His idea of an Indian Ceremony was a sort of scalp to show he could go where he wanted to and therefore was very important.

He wrote a booklet (top) which was highly inaccurate.  It never occurred to him that Fraser's "End of the Trail" was offensive to progressive Indians who saw it an icon of "salvation anthropology", meaning that Indians were "over" -- when that was far from the truth.
