For decades I've been thinking about a body of theory that I call "The Bone Chalice." Now I come to two realizations. One is that I've posted so much and so often that it amounts to the equivalent of a very fat book. The other is that the title won't work anymore. At the time I chose it, the idea was that the experience of the numinous was a product of the brain in its bony container, but now I'm understanding that "religious/spiritual" felt experience is the result of the whole body in its dynamic relationship to everything else over infinite time and space.
The link between my old title and a new one -- when I finally figure out what it should be -- is the human sensory capacity, both conscious and unconscious. I still reflect on my list of performances and can now add the concept of "performance" itself. In the meantime, if there are people trying to follow along over the years, I will list here the blog posts on prairiemary.blogspot.com that were about all this.
