TUMULT

Looking for a word for a title for an essay about our times, an existential indicator of fear and confusion that has not been co-opted for the name of a rock band, particularly one that is heavy metal.

The word I'm using now is "tumult" which describes a lot of confusion among crowds with conflicting and rioting opinions.  Looking at Google Images, I find this video entitled "Tumult" by Johnny Barrington, a Scots filmmaker.   https://vimeo.com/36537379'  It just about sums up what I try to express in words.  People who loved "Game of Thrones" will approve and those with a more zen-like outlook will not.  I think some will find it hilarious.  Don't forget that the land is a player in this story.

This short vid has won lots of prizes if you need reassurance.

The idea is the past and the present each have their horror which they impose on each other with ghastly results, particularly in terms of the institutionalized religions that purport to be truth, even as the conflict.

This fifteen minute video would be an excellent kick-off for lively discussion among people, esp. in high school or even college classes.  So I won't write anymore today -- just let you have at it.
